Apprenticeship is a system of training a new generation of practitioners, in Canada it is governed by the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) and the Red Seal Program which is highlighted by the Red Seal Endorsement (RSE) designation, a symbol and license of prestige representing the qualified excellence of the journeyperson in there specific trade of recognition.
Apprenticeship is on-the-job training accompanied by technical studies (classroom work and reading). Employers provide apprentices the opportunity to learn their trade of profession in exchange for their labor over a contractually defined time. Typical apprenticeship last 3 to 6 years, successful completion allows the apprentice to reach the level of journeyperson the highest level of competence in the trade.
